Case Study - Chilcomb Business Park, Hampshire

Selected other rural projects, click to view

ACLA was commissioned to prepared landscape proposals for a planning application for a state of the art business park in a rural location on the outskirts of the village of Chilcomb, Hampshire. Because the site is in a visually sensitive rural location it was important to mitigate views to the proposed units to gain planning approval.

The existing boundary was reinforced with additional native planting and a green roof was proposed to integrate the development into its surroundings. We also designed high quality communal/recreational outdoor areas together with ornamental and wildlife ponds to create and enhance existing habitats.

Detailed sections of the boundary treatment illustrated the proposals as part of the successful planning process. The sections included estimates of tree growth, which over time will screen the proposals from sensitive views.

We specialise in developments in rural locations in particular in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Due to the sensitivity of many rural landscapes planning authorities often require Landscape and visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) reports as part of the planning application. We have developed an economical methodology in producing these reports especially for smaller scale developments.

We have designed over fifty landscape layouts for business parks and other commercial developments across the UK in both rural and urban locations. We also prepare landscape managemet reports, contract/tender documentation, specification, bills of quantities and administer on site works as part of a binding contract to ensure the client receives the best value for money and ensure disputes do not occur. Typical projects range from large-scale rural business parks through to individual planning applications for new shop units in urban areas.
